Many male members are looking for warmth and comfort in their search for a suitable partner. The impression an image can give is paramount in persuading the male member to read further the lady's profile. If the image does not display warmth or comfort, they won't go any further than the image and click away. Time after time, I have seen an image of a lady who smiles get more profile views than an image with no smile. The smile opens the door for men to explore the lady's profile yet so many ladies keep the door closed with no expression or emotion on their face.
I don't want to exclusively pick on ladies' images, but for reasons I'm not sure of, my stats shows that lady members will view a male profile that has an image with or without a smile. While male members almost always lean towards a smiling face when browsing profiles. Maybe gender stereotype is in play - men are suppose to look more serious than ladies so a man smiling or not smiling is not as big of a factor in how his character is perceived. I'm not sure, but after eight years of running an Asian dating site I can tell you the stats for profile views for a smiling lady versus a non-smiling lady image is overwhelming in favor of the smiling face. So ladies, smile!
In any given day, I get more than my share of emails from members asking me for advise. The first thing I look at is there profile image. If it doesn't display warmth, I tell them to change their profile image. After the smile, clothes and accessories can be a factor in how someone will react to your profile. Even a smiling face wearing sunglasses turns many members away. They say your eyes are the windows to your soul and if they can't see the expression in your eyes, they may feel you are hiding something. Don't wear sunglasses.
Another accessory that may be a factor is ear rings, especially on an Asian dating site. If a lady is wearing huge ear rings, most men will not respond favorably. I'm not sure if this is the case on non-Asian sites, but most male members of an Asian dating site are looking for simplicity and huge gaudy ear rings convey the opposite of simplicity. Small and eloquent ear rings seem to get more responses by men.
The clothes can attract as much versatility as there are women. A man looking for a sexy lady is gong to take his clue from the clothes she wears. The same for a man who is looking for a homebody. I think the biggest mistake women make is overdoing it with sexy clothes. There is a fine line between looking sexy and looking the part of a street girl. I have seen more than one male member comment that he was looking for a wife, not a call girl.
